Kovalam
Kovalam is a charming fishing village situated on the coast of the Arabian sea, just 16 Km from Trivandrum. A golden strip of sand, laced with palm trees, this internationally acclaimed, lush, tropical beach is often referred to as “ the paradise of the south’. With high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights.
It is warm and clean by the coconut trees and the white sand bed as the
sea breeze gently plays with the waves. Swimming and bathing are very
refreshing and exhilarating in the waves. One can walk into the sea about
100 meters without loosing ground. This cove is also the safest place for
swimming. Most of the visitors like to have a sunbath and get a good
suntan on beach . At many coastal places there are beautiful patches of
coral reefs. The underwater views, which are visible during snorkeling,
are really marvelous.
Its scenic beauty and serenity is supplemented by the availability of
excellent accommodation . There are a lot of restaurants which provide
western style food as well as Indian, which is delicious. The grilled
seafood items such as lobster, king prawns and kalamari which are got
fresh from the sea at Kovalam. Ayurvedic massage parlours, yoga centers
and water sport facilities, makes Kovalam a popular haven for tourists
from all over the globe.
Many people from different countries and cultures, intermingling their languages get together in this paradise of the South and spend their leisure time joyfully. It makes moments heavenly.
Day 01 Kovalam
Arrival at Trivandrum and transfer to the Hotel to kovalam to relax.
Kovalam is a beach lovers paradise caters for lively, sporty, relaxing and
fun tastes along its miles of golden sands. Rest of the day is free to
relax on the beach. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 02 Kovalam –
Kanyakumari - Kovalam
This
morning proceed on an excursion to Kanyakumari-India's land's end' the
southernmost tip of the mainland.
Kanyakumari: Kanyakumari district, once known as "The Granary of Travancore" lies at the southwestern part of Indian peninsula. It was in Travancore for a long time and then merged with Tamil Nadu in 1956 under the State Linguistic Reorganization Act. Kanyakumari is a place at the confluence of the Indian ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian sea. The multicoloured sand is an unique feature of the beach here. The places covered are:
SWAMI VIVEKANANDA
ROCK MEMORIAL:
This grand memorial
to the great Indian Philosopher Swami Vivekananda is
on one of the twin rocks jutting out from the sea about 200 meters
offshore. There is a Dhyana Mandapam where one can sit in a serene
atmosphere and meditate. Ferry services are available to reach the
memorial.
GANDHI MEMORIAL: This striking memorial has been built on the spot where the urn containing Mahatma's ashes was kept for public viewing before immersion. It resembles an Orissan temple and was designed so that on Gandhiji's birthday (2nd October) , the suns rays fall on the place where his ashes were kept.
KUMARI AMMAN TEMPLE: Picturesquely situated overlooking the shore, this temple and the nearby Ghat attract tourist from all over the world. According to a legend, Devi did penance here to secure Lord Siva's hand in marriage. When she was unsuccessful, she vowed to remain a virgin (Kanya). The Diamond nose-ring of this deity is famous for its sparkling splendour which is supposed to be visible even from the sea.
Day 03 Kovalam
The day is at leisure. You may wish to relax with an Ayurvedic massage.
Kovalam has also acquired a reputation as being one of the best places in Kerala-or India, for that matter- for an invigorating Ayurvedic course of treatment or rejuvenation. Ayurvedic massage parlours, spas and yoga centers are a dime a dozen in Kovalam, and there is really nothing that can buck you up as much as a course of therapy- with herbal oils and soothing massages- at one of these! Many hotels and independent set-ups also offer yoga classes.
Day 04 Kovalam -
Trivandrum
Check-out hotel. Trivandrum city tour covering visit to Padmanabhaswamy
temple, Padmanabhapuram palace, Swathi Thirunal art gallery/museum. Drop
at the airport or railway station.
Padmanabha Swamy Temple: The temple is located inside the East Fort. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is a blend of the Kerala and Dravidian styles of architecture. It is known for its mural paintings and stone carvings. One among the 108 sacred Vishnu temples in India, the presiding deity in here is Lord Vishnu reclining on Anantha the Serpent.
Padmanabhapuram

The famous summer palace of the Maharaja of Tranvancore. The palace is one
of the best examples of the traditional wooden architecture of Kerala. The
Padmanabhapuram Palace is a well-preserved wooden palace, a glorious
testimony to the traditional architecture of Kerala.
Kuthiramalika (Puthenmalika) Palace Museum: The palace was built by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma - the King of Travancore, who was a great poet, musician, social reformer and statesman. This rare specimen of workmanship in the traditional Travancore style of architecture also has exquisite wood carvings. The palace museum displays paintings and various priceless collections of the royal family and is located near the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple.
